What's New

Fall play "The Miracle Worker" (click here for info)

The week of November 30th we will have two days of different schedules.  The first is Monday, November 30th and will be a TideFest meeting day with the meeting time being for a half hour in the a.m.  The second is Tuesday, December 1st and is an assembly for World Aids Day.  The assembly is scheduled for an hour at 7:30a.m.

As always you can find the schedules on the GHHS website at http://www.gigharborhs.psd401.net/docs/2009-2010%20DAILY%20SCHEDULE.pdf.

During each sport's season, Narrows League Schools nominate a male and female for the Narrows League Scholar Athlete Award. The competition is keen. The athlete has to display outstanding grades, excel in the sport, and give to the community. We are pleased to announce that both Anna Guenther (volleyball) and Max Jiganti (tennis) are the winners for this past fall season.
Lost and found items will be donated during the Thanksgiving break.  Check the lost and found box across from the attendance office to see if any of your lost items are there.  We have sweatshirts, books, binders, cell phones, jewelry and other items.  CHECK IT OUT!
Peninsula School District Refinances Bonds
Peninsula School District has refinanced its outstanding 1999 bonds in order to take advantage of lower interest rates. The recent refinancing will save the District’s taxpayers a total of over $85,000 during the next three years. Superintendent Bouck emphasized that these savings flow directly to taxpayers through reduced tax levies and are not available for District expenses. “This is a direct savings to our community members in the form of taxes they expected, but will not have to pay,” Bouck said.

The Peninsula School Board accomplished these savings by approving the issuance of $2,385,000 in refunding bonds at its meeting held on September 16, 2009. The District has been monitoring bond market conditions and recent low interest rates allowed the District to exceed its savings target. Interest rates averaged 1.35% on the new bonds compared to 4.20% on the old debt.

The Activity bus runs at 4:30. It will run on Mondays and Thursdays this school year.

We would like to thank all parents for being supportive of the fact that we cannot always answer every phone call. We are continuing our efforts to find solutions to this dilemma. In that effort, we have sent home a complete list of GHHS staff phone numbers so you will have the (dial) direct number at your fingertips and wont need to go through the reception desk to be transferred.

School policy states all visitors must sign in at the main office.
We do not allow random visiting nor interruption of classes.  Those wanting to meet with a teacher must make prior arrangements with that teacher.  A full list of extensions and email addresses can be found below under "Stay Connected".
GHHS Building Security Notice

To ensure high safety standards for all:

  • Most entries/exits of GHHS will be locked promptly at 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and remain locked every weekend
  • The only doors that will have unlocked access to the building later than 3:00 p.m. will be those main front and back doors to the commons (beside each gym).
  • If there are no events in the building on a certain evening, the doors to the commons will also be locked.
  • The 100’s level doors are to remain locked at all times.
  • Any locked doors must not be propped open by students or staff.
We realize that this means that it will be necessary to walk farther to get into the building, should you park in certain areas of the parking lot.  However, locking these doors is a crucial part of ensuring safety for staff, students and the community.  Thank you for your support and cooperation in upholding this policy.
